I missed my birthday.

[It's said with no small share of amusement on his part, the fact is he was kind of in the middle of having a huge crisis with Ganon going ape on his birthday so...he doesn't feel too bad but still.]

I've been eighteen for six weeks now -- weird. Where I come from, it's a...pretty big deal. The last year of having your name put in and the last time you'll ever have a chance of being in the Games.

[He says chance like it's some kind of honor to be picked. For him, it was. Was.]

If I had been home, [Still alive that is.] next year the whole town would have gotten together to celebrate - we never did those things small.

[He smiles, mostly to himself.]

It would've been fun.

Maybe celebrate with just the two of you, then? Hang out and do something fun together. But at least do something for your birthday.

What would you do for fun?

[Yeah he's bad at this. Does it show?]

I'd start the day with a nice workout and then a refreshing shower. Then I'd go shopping and pick out a great new outfit. I'd have dinner with the people I'm closest to, and then I'd invite a big group of people that I get along with to go out dancing and party with me in the evening.

[This is weird...but:]

[Oh god never let them meet. Never.]

She sounds like a sensible girl. Would she happen to be the Clove you mentioned before?

Yeah that's her.

[He sounds pleased as punch when he says it. He'll realize later that this is the first time that he's called her his girlfriend to someone he doesn't know.]

Then you should definitely celebrate with just her for part of the day. I bet she'd want to do something special with you. Invite a bigger group out to hang out later.

I -- [have one friend? don't like people? spend my time with her everyday anyways?

Good. Maybe organize a casual mingle thing where people you know can just stop by, hang out, and wish you a happy birthday in person, then.

[Mostly because he isn't obligated to be nice if people are just wishing him a happy birthday.]

[Probably, but Bulla isn't remotely intimidating looking and she's so friendly that people don't realize how stubborn and persistent she can be.]
